Wrestling Team knocks off #7 Dreher

Congratulations to our Wrestling team for knocking off 7th ranked Dreher last night, Tuesday Jan 7th at South Pointe High School.  The team had a narrow loss to the home standing Stallions by 10.  

Cross Country Competes Well at State!

York Cross Country 4A State Championship – November 22nd, 2024The athletes performed well at the final meet of the season.  The girls' team finished 14th overall in the state.  Ava Shook took 4th place with a time of 19:26.52 earning all-state honors.  Team Members: Ava Shook, Kimberly Galvan Fabian, Amerie Van Nostrand (7th Grade), Alexandria Welsh, Amiracle Adams, and Joyelle Graves.  Alternates: Shayna Huard and MacKayla Thomasson. Sophomore Ellis Spencer had a great showing by finishing 27th out of 112 athletes with a time of 17:33.77. Please congratulate all the athletes on an awesome performance.

Cross Country Teams Do Well at State Qualifier - 11/16/24

From Coach McFadden:York Cross Country 4A State Qualifier Results – November 16th, 2024The athletes had another great day at the 4A State Qualifier at Fort Jackson.  We had another day of PRs and top 10 finishes. We had a total of 11 PRs.  I am extremely proud of the resilience of our young group of athletes. We had 8 athletes to advance to the SC 4A State Championship. One individual male and the girls team moved on.Boys' Results: Ellis Spencer led the way by finishing with an 8th place finish. Golf Team Excels at Upper State Tournament

The Cougar Girls Golf Team went to Willow Creek Golf Club in Greer SC Monday to participate in the Upper State golf tournament.  Callie Lawton, a sophomore, tied for first place shooting a 78 and was deemed Upper State Champion!  She will go on to compete in Hilton Head Oct 28th and 29th at the State Golf Tournament.Rasmine Dismukes also played well enough to get an invite to the State tournament.  EmmaLee Thompson and Ellie Dismukes rounded out our team participating at Upper State and represented our school and community well.We are very proud of these girls!!    

Cross Country competed at York County Championship - Oct 19

Boys Swim finishes 15th in State Swim Meet

Our boys swim team had a great showing on Thursday night in Columbia.Great individual efforts from Wyatt Branch in the 500 free and 200 free got him 11th and 19th places respectively. Connor Evans picked up 18th place in the 200 yard free and had a very respectable 23rd finish in the 100 breast.  Justin Haney picked up 13th in the 200 and 100 free.The 200 yard free relay team of Justin Haney, Will Gilfillan, Wyatt Branch, and Connor Evans took home 12th place.  And our 400 yard free relay team of Justin Haney, Chandler Evans, Wyatt Branch, and Connor Evans placed 12th as well.We are very proud of our swimmers!  They had a very successful season and with all of them returning next season, look to improve on a very good year!

Any student interested in joining the YCHS Track and Field team for the 2025 season will need to contact Coach McFadden at amcfadden@york.k12.sc.us.  You must have an updated physical entered into planet high school to participate.  Off season practice has begun.

Boys Soccer Preseason Workouts/Tryouts

All boys interested in trying out for soccer this year must have a current sports physical uploaded to BigTeams before they can step foot on the field. Physical forms and instructions on how to upload all necessary documentation can be found outside the YCHS Athletic Director's door in between the main gym and auxiliary gym.All communication during the season will be done via “Remind”. To sign up to receive messages, text @yorkfc to the number 81010. Preseason workouts for boys in grades 9-12 will be held at the high school stadium beginning immediately after school and running until 5pm on the following dates:1/13, 1/14, 1/16, 1/21, 1/23, 1/24, 1/27, 1/28Tryouts for all boys in grades 7-12 will be held at the high school stadium on Monday, February 3rd through Friday, February 7th from 4:00pm-6:15pm.Any questions regarding the upcoming season can be directed to Coach Johnson at rjohnson@york.k12.sc.us

JV & Varsity Football will practice at 8 am on Labor Day (Monday, September 2), and at 8 am on E-Learning Day (Tuesday, September 3). 

Golf Ball Drop 2024

The York Touchdown Club is again sponsoring a golf ball drop at halftime of the first home football game vs. Nation Ford on August 30.  Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from any football coach or Touchdown Club member.  Only 500 tickets will be sold.  You do not have to be present to win.  Prizes are as follows: 1st=$1000, 2nd=$750, 3rd=$500, & 4th=$250.

January Open Season Track and Field Practice

Open season Track and Field practice will begin on January 9th-24th.  Practice will be held at the YCHS track from 4:00pm-5:30pm.  This is for all events: Throwing, Running, and Jumps. You must have an updated physical to participate.  Physicals will need to be uploaded to Planet High School.  Mandatory practice will begin on January 29th for athletes not participating in a Winter sport. CoEd Varsity Cross Country vs. Multiple Opponents

What an awesome day at the Trojan Invitational on Saturday, September 9th.  Please congratulate the following XC athletes. Every athlete met their time goal for the meet or ran a PR. I’m extremely proud of the team for their continued growth and commitment.  We will continue to get better.   The Varsity girls finished 5th out of 14 teams.    Varsity Runners: Ava Shook, Colette Dismukes, Jayden Bennett, Ellie Dismukes, and Joyelle Graves.   Ava Shook finished 8th overall.    The JV girls finished 7th out of 13 teams.    JV Runners: Gabriella Albert, Nadine Capita, Nora Summerville, Jassmin Torres, and Alexandria Welsh.   The Varsity boys finished 12th out of 18 teams.    Varsity Runners: Hollis Hopper, Ellis Spencer, Samuel Haney, Jashad Lytle, and Jackson

2022 1st Official Practice Information

Welcome to the 2022 Cougar Track & Field season.  Our first official practice will be on Monday, January 31st.  All athletes must have an updated physical loaded into Planet High School.  Practice will be held Monday thru Thursday from 4:00-5:45pm.  No practice will be held on Friday's unless there is a meet on the weekend. 

JV Game vs. South Pointe has been moved!!

The JV game this week with South Pointe HS has been moved to Wednesday, October 27th at 6:00 pm @ The Cougar Den.  Game was moved up due to incoming bad weather on Thursday!!!
